CHAMP: Aight ya’ll so you know what I’m saying being that this is a special def jam conference call man I told you we was going to get, the biggest artist in the world on this call right now he goes by the name of Kanye West man his album comes out on the 25th his 808’s and heartbreak’s I got ye on the phone his in a listening session right now in the U.K. so you know what I’m saying I’m a let ye talk to everybody right now ye talk to everybody.
Kanye West: Yo...I just want to thank everybody for their support first of all. I’m at a listening session playing my joints for people in U.K. cuz i felt like it was christmas day were the parents get to see their kids open up their gifts cuz i felt like, I try to give the gift of music you know like this album it’s been like basically based off the devastation and the hurt that i felt within the past year for all the losses I went through. settling in sorta being like this super famous alien where every where i go somebody wants to fuckin photograph and, you know it’s hard when you not really a celebrity but you just a real person that end up just being famous for your craft. Whats good is that theraputically it’s a better option than suicide cuz like you now just keep on putting out music and art. and of course i got a lot of backlash for my medium that i wanted to do this in.
I created a thing i call heartbreak it’s like a mixed drink and its like autotune meets distortion with a bit of delay on it and a whole bunch of fucked up life that i put onto records and that’s what i call my heartbreak and that every record makes me mad. I ’m delivering what i feel is art and thats what i wanted to look at this joint from now on. With records like Love Lockdown they might not have hi hats and shit like everything else had but when i go out and be listening to Jimi Hendrix, and the Stones, and Lenny Kravitz, aint really playing no hip hop records in the midst of that and i feel like niggas be giving up on trying to make music on a quincy jones level.On this record, I’m trying to improve my craft and trying to push it to a level that no nigga ever made it to you know, no nigga got 50,000 people 100,000, stadiums 10 years after their records came out and for anybody that saw the tour you know my goal is to make it and then take it to a whole ‘nother level. We 'bout to drop the record, the one record everybody is talking about Amazing featuring Jeezy the other person that made this call right before chris blast it out to everybody. you know it’s definetly one of those joints in the club that’s gonna go crazy that’s gonna send it up, like we did swagger, like we did with like we always do it this time, basically this is what my job is, my job is to give ya’ll, shit that have the model bitches running crazy and shit, have niggas bobbing their head crazy like you can’t tell me nothing and flashing lights. Of course i always hit em with a curve to start off with but ya’ll know with that Heartless that’s straight nigga shit. The whole album is just a ... with rap no more at the end of the day, i’m trying to put some phil collins melodies. Even if im harmonizing, it’s still from a nigga perspective. I ain’t making no “girl your nails are the perfect nails” nah this aint none of that this is still 100% rap perspective music, with melody.
So i just came on the phone man to thank everybody for they support. With Love Lockdown that shit over a million on itunes thus far and bitches love it and niggas like to watch bithces dance to it and i’m sorry, for any female dj’s i mean young ladies like it very much. This album is really from my heart man it’s an art project and i just appreciate everybody. So for the people who like i’m not rapping right now, thank you very much for allowing me to sit on the couch and let this one off and get out what i need to get out. There’s rumours of another album coming in June, but i’m not gonna put that pressure on myself. I’ll probably come out with another tour in June though.I mean thats where i’m at with my life right now and i really wanted to release this music and I forced L.A (Reid). to give me this release date. I was like don’t fucking wait months and months and months to try to set it up just give people the music 'cause i’m constantly making music. We almost finished with Jay album, we were almost finished before i even start my album. So Jay album coming in February. There’s a new Wayne, special packaging coming, for this christmas. We got a new record on there toghther so we still got a bunch of shit coming. So yeah I just said all that to say thank you and shit and that’s about it.
CHAMP: Aight then, with that being said everybody that’s listening on this call we are going to release Amazing today Kanye West’s new record amazing and just one last thing before you get off the phone. Your moving this album date to the 24th correct? Wanna speak on that?
Kanye West: Well yeah the label moved it up to get more Thanksgiving sales and they told me to get on the call and say how that I moved it up 'cause of the fucking excitement but i don’t do that shit. The label moved it up to try to get more sales and shit. I’m excited about the album, I mean also Robocop is completely different on the album, Paranoid is different and I did not leak those, I didn’t leak the heartless video, muthafuckas is leaking my shit like, the only shit I leaked was Heartless and Love Lockdown. Those are the only joints I actually put out so i know how it is but yeah basically the label moved it up they tryna get more sales and shit. If i get the sales then cool, if i dont hey, I would have to, sure would be a burden 'cause i have been a cocky muthafucka and talks my shit and all that and people would love to see me not sell but hey, it is what it is man and thats the way life is man so hopefully I can sell. We been doing pretty good with the singles we been dropping and they put it up a day and we’d probably get more sales because of it.
CHAMP: And with that being said, support Love Lockdown, support Heartless and we gotta brand new record coming today it’s called Amazing. It’s just you by yourself ye?
Kanye West: Nah, Jeezy on it. Jeezy came down to Hawaii with us because everytime i would write a chorus or any type of hook i’ll be like man what would Jeezy do, what would he say on this record. At the end of the day i make my shit straight white t-shirt ready at all giving times so he came down to help out but he actually helped with other records so this records a striaght singing record that has Jeezy lines on it and you’ll feel that energy throughout that entire joint but it features Jeezy though.
