Ray J-All He Can Feel
CHAMP MAGAZINE

The Boy Hollywood

CHAMP: First and foremost .All I feel is a big big album. I peeped it and gotta congratulate you on it and hand it to you man.

Ray J: Thank you man we’ve been working hard on it and we independent and under my own label Knockout Entertainment. We just feel good about being in the forefront of this music right now.

CHAMP: Now going into this album, what was your game plan to make this the album it is now?

Ray J: I just wanted to go in with a mentality of making people feel good. We wanted to bring people into the spring and summer strong with Sexy Can I and then we wanted to follow it up with a big ballad and emotional ballad to take people to a whole other level emotionally.

CHAMP: On the album, from the beginning you caught me with the Don’t Wanna Be Right joint because it’s a real talk joint.

Ray J: I appreciate it

CHAMP: You mentioned barely seeing your sister and your moms as youngin’. How hard was that for you and was that during the time you started acting?

Ray J: That was right around when I was acting and right when Brandy was on tour a lot. She was touring a lot and I never got to see her before, and that’s when I started getting in a lot of trouble in my neighborhood. I was just speaking on the past times in life.

CHAMP: Now previously you put out Raydiation. What would be the difference on this album compared to Raydiation?

Ray J: This one has a little bit of a hip hop edge to it and it’s just a little more edgy. The situations are a little more…I wouldn’t say adult; I would just say a little more edgy.

CHAMP: More grown up I guess

Ray J: Yeah a little bit

CHAMP: Now this album like you said comes out your label Knockout Entertainment, but you also got a joint venture with Koch and Shaqs label Deja 34. How did you guys hook up and how much input did he (Shaq) have on this album?

Ray J: Well he’s just one of my investors. I really just put most of the input into my album myself. I kinda just present them with my
ideas in where I wanna go and how I wanna look and he’s one ofmy partners and investors. He came on the investment side and we teamed up with Koch and it just got taken to a whole nother level.

CHAMP: I read a few reviews here and there on the album toseeother responses and a few stated that there was a constant reference to you diggin’ up shorties and all that. Substance-wise, what was your direction on this album?

Ray J: It was just to go in there and talk about stuff that I’ve beenthrough and talk about what I’ve seen and what I’m experiencing right now.

CHAMP: Of course there’s a few controversial joints where there may be references to Kim –

Ray J: Lil Kim?

CHAMP: Kim Kardashian

Ray J: Oh are they any joints with her?

CHAMP: No no directed to her

Ray J: We were in a relationship for 5 years man so I did speak on things that I been through in my relationships but I wouldn’t say that I kinda took a shot at her or anything, I just talk about what I been through in life and she was a part of my life so there are situations that I kinda speak on that maybe I experienced with her.

CHAMP: Of course the Boyfriend track has been bubblin’ up andcats are saying that’s a diss to Bobby Brown with the whole Whitney situation.

Ray J: Yeah nah that’s not to Bobby at all man. I didn’t even write that record and that’s the only record I didn’t write. It’s about a concept of a girl having a husband but needing a boyfriend on the side to satisfy her needs.

CHAMP: In terms of features and productions on this album who do we got?

Ray J: We got Shorty Mack from Knockout, we got The Game, we got Styles P, we got some production from Rodney Jerkins,Trackmasters, and some new dudes out of Detroit and out of Philly.

CHAMP: I seen Fizzy Womack’s on the joint as well

Ray J: Yes Sir

CHAMP: Of course Sexy Can I is killin’ it everywhere. Even up in Toronto shorties be dancin’ and having that on their answering machine-

Ray J: Sexy Can I!?

CHAMP: Yes Sir

Ray J: That’s what’s up! (laughs)

CHAMP: When’s the next single comin’ up and when can we expect that out and the video for that?

Ray J: The album’s called All I Feel so I’ma come out with the single-titled track called All I Feel. That’ll be out hopefully in the next couple weeks and I’ma start shooting the video.

CHAMP: What else is next for Ray J that we should look out for in the near future?

Ray J: Look out for Shorty Mack coming out of Knockout Entertainment and look out for the Brandy album coming out under Epic records.
