Speedknot Mobstaz CHAMP: I'ma start off with how it all started in the beginning, I mean Liffy Mays y'all hooked up with Twista way back and hit off immediately, and then dropped Mobstability. How's the preparation and anticipation for that album compared to this one? Liffy: Well back then it was a different market when we dropped the 1st Mobstability album. The technology was different. Now we got downloads and a lot of things is going through the computers you know what I'm saying. Things is the same it's just the little things. First it was the LP, then the cassettes, then the cds, now it's the computers. CHAMP: The digital downloads too and all that but I mean, what is Mobstability and explain Nation Business as well Liffy: Mobstability is a state of mind. You a mobsta with mobsta ways and stability is a crew statement; you got stability in your crew you know a mob run the way it's supposed to be organized tight CHAMP: I actually found out what the meaning of a Speedknot Mobsta is, but for the cats who don't know exactly what that means could you break it down for them? Twista: We all know what a speedknot is, it's the knot you get on ya head when you get cranked inside the head real quick. You already know what a Mobsta is so when we chose that name a lot of brothers was just fighting, there wasn't a lot of gun play at the time when we came with that name. We was a mobsta. We talkin' about rollin' up on niggas and tryina fight CHAMP: That's what's up really gully. In a previous interview you mentioned that you got that Wall Street sound and what you spit comes from the soul. What tracks on the album really represent that soul feeling that you guys represent? Liffy: Raised on the Block, we got a track called Bush Made it Hard, Tippin and Ballin, Thug Outta Me. Really comes from the soul we ain’t really just try to saturate gangsta shit its just real street music Twista: We make a lot of mood music a lot of people are into my music and mixtapes 'cause y'all can get mood music. So I guess it's like the sounds that my guy Kanyeezy use or Toxic use a lot of times. Ain’t just a dry drum pattern or a baseline, 'cause sometimes the drum be dry but I love hip hop but I like a lil mood music sometimes so we just make a lot of mood music sometimes so that’s what he means with the soul too CHAMP: To get to the video; the Money to Blow video I mean, the shorty game is crazy I'm lovin' the video with the black and white aspect of it and keepin' it real clean. I was gonna ask y'all about the shorties in the video and which one y'all could hook me up with Liffy:(laughs) Oh man which one you want man you can have all of them CHAMP: You know what it is! But now you also called gangsta rap reality rap. We now live in an era where reality rap isn’t being as significant as it was 4 or 5 years ago. Is that something you kind of incorporated more in Mobstability 2 so that people can be more in tune with exactly what the reality rap was and how its missing from the game, and did you bring that element back in to this? Liffy: We did bring those elements because it’s been devoured so we bringing those elements back in the game because the real look of life is missing from the game. There’s too many “supergangstarism” that nobody's keepin' it original CHAMP: Now this question’s for Twista. Did you play more of a coach role in this project or were you like the Kobe of the team? Twista: Well really man I stepped back. I'm really proud of the mob and what they got because we didn't really drown you with a bunch of my songs and my verses and stuff like that, 'cause you know how it’s like. I definitely want people to pay attention to the fact that I'm bringin' a force but it's about them and they doing they own thing. I don't want anybody to be like yeah they just riding off Twista that's why I'm only on like 2 or 3 songs CHAMP: That's what's up making people actually see that they can hold their own as well Twista: Yeah let them prove themselves you know what I'm sayin'. I don't want them to associate themselves with Twista all the time. The Mobsta is official on they own CHAMP: Now producer and feature-wise who do we got on the bill on this album? Liffy: We got my man Traxster who did a lot of production for Twista, he got Whip Game Proper w/ Lil Wayne who did a song on the album called 18 Hoes. We got GMG, and we got my man Jim Jones on it too CHAMP: Now you mentioned GMG, what projects can we expect from them in the future? Twista: Right now we got a compilation coming out we got my man Shawty Lo and other artists expect surprises man GMG Get Money Gang CHAMP: Nowadays artists are really tapping into the business venture as well as the art but more business related ventures on the side. Any business ventures we can expect from Speedknot or Twista as well? Twista: We tryina get as much money as we can from this game. We got a couple stores and other business ventures like that, and we just got people runnin' those but I'm so tied up in this business right now they ain’t too much for anything. Liffy: You forgot the acting thing too Twista: Oh yeah you 'bout to see me on Under One Roof with Flava Flav CHAMP: Oh ok ok. When's that droppin'? Twista: I believe later in July CHAMP: So I gotta look out for that as well. Now the album’s actually gonna be droppin' with Koch and I mean Koch seems to be the spot right now, which is actually competing with commercial labels. What is it about Koch that had that appeal for Speedknot Mobstaz and Twista to say this is the place were definitely gonna make moves at? Liffy: It really was being one of the major independent companies that you can deal with, because when you don’t wanna go major you can just deal with a distribution company. There's a lot of companies that do their thing, but we just felt like it was a good home because certain artists that we vibe with took that route so we was like yeah that might be the thing to do so we just rolled with it CHAMP: Now when can we expect y'all to hit up a show and do something up in Toronto? Twista: Definitely real real soon like I said I just was up there filming my show Under One Roof with Flav so just be lookin’ for us real soon man I'd say like a couple of months maybe even shorter
