Spider Loc Interview
Interview By: DJ Laz Vagez

Champ: It's Champ Magazine and we kicking it with the best west secret...Spider Loc...
What's cracking homie?

Spider Loc: Ye its S.P.I the West Kept Secret live in effect man just getting my Baymaac on, my G-West on, it’s real simple.

C: Aight Man! Let’s talk about your career...U rap and U act, I want to know from your point of you the difference between rapping and acting and what do you prefer.

S.P.I.: There’s more than one difference between rapping and acting and I guess I can point out one of the main ones. The acting money is far more consistent and you get paid at a higher rate for your time so for that reason alone I would prefer acting. Rapping is something that been a natural passion since childhood and I probably would equally do both of them but I think from today on and into the future acting would be the more lucrative thing for a nigga.

C: Tell us some of the projects you been involved in as an actor.

S.P.I.: If I start way way back, I was involved in a really low budget independent film starring Kurupt and myself and Bank Brothers was another film that came out early 2000 on the same level with Crooked I and myself and then from there it got a little better. I actually starred in my own film that has yet to come out called parole alongside master p and Ernest Thomas and outside of that I appeared on cold case, another show on CBS, Weeds and Numbers. I got other small projects and a few pilots just trying to get it in man.

C: OK OK now I’ve read that you used to roll with Suge Knight and death row records. What did u learn as a rapper rolling with probably one of the most influential labels of all time?

S.P.I.: I learnt that...I mean once again I learned a lot of things if you want me to just pick one thing that I learned is...I learned Suge wasn’t all what we thought he was cracked up to be way back then I’ll tell you that.

C: Ah Man...Aight, and after that u was signed to g-unit. Now I have a "what if" type of question. What if Suge signed you...do u think death row would be in the same situation they are in now?

S.P.I.: Ye Man! The situation at the end of the day is going to take none other than Christ himself to help him be able to do something. I would love to say if he signed me he’d be in a better position but it’s not that if he’d signed me its if I signed the paperwork that he gave me, I didn’t want to sign it.

C: OK OK, the first g-unit member u met was former g-unit member young buck. How did buck help you get signed to g-unit?

S.P.I.: He put me in the same room as 50 cent so that’s about the extent of his help he didn’t actually help me get signed. Once I was in the room with 50 I went from my own and my report got me to establish myself but old Buck-a-Roo did get me in the room you so I appreciate that a whole lot throughout this whole experience but he put on panties in front of the whole world.

C: LOL...you talking about the tape where Buck is pouring out his heart.

S.P.I.: That’s like the main part you know, that’s the main part where you see him with his G-String.

C: LOL...and that’s actually the title on one of your joints.

S.P.I.: Yea you know, its crazy man

C: Now being on G-unit, u haven’t released an album on their label.

S.P.I.: Nah I haven’t man!

C: Where do u stand with the label because it's looking like it’s just Yayo, Banks, and Fif.

S.P.I.: Ye it does, I agree but it’s definitely more going on than that. The reasons why the front looks like that is deeper than me personally man so I try not to get caught up in a way. He still has a system in place for me in the machine; I’m benefitting from it and eating so I can’t really worry about how it’s looking like that right now. I know exactly what you referring to.

C: Now as u know, there beefing wit Rick Ross...what are your thoughts personally about that situation?

S.P.I.: its hilarious man I seen it take a lot of slight turns man and I think it’s good for hip hop because the beef took a new change. We never seen a beef play out like that and I think it’s innocent and fun.

C: No doubt I mean you’re definitely correct I mean it played out real real differently than most hip hop beef. You also have your personal issues with some cats in the industry. We’re going to do a one word association type of thing where I name the artist and u tell me one word that defines that person.

C: Yukmouth

S.P.I.: Aight

C: Snoop Dogg

S.P.I.: Soft

C: Lil Wayne

S.P.I.: Weird

C: Ice T

S.P.I.: LHAO ... JOKE

C: And The Game

S.P.I.: Suicidal

C: LOL ... Out of all those people who do u despise the most and why?

S.P.I.: None of those people you named were important enough in my life to be despised. I don’t think about it as despised you know they just need to stay out of my way that’s all. But Yukmouth in there because you know we had previous problems I just want to keep it clear we on a cool level and we aight but the rest of them cats they got to stay out my way.

C: No doubt, no doubt. Now you got an album coming out this year called the World Wide Web ... Tell us who is pushing this project and when the release date is.

S.P.I.: That’s my debut man it’s in the hands man we been communicating with Interscope, communicating with G-Unit trying to find a position where we can get it done I wouldn’t want to give you no date because we ain't got no date it’s just soon with 1000 O’s and N’s at the end.

C: So now it’s in the works you got any thoughts on who you want on their artist wise or producer wise?

S.P.I.:  Well actually, my partner diesel he A & R the project. We got a list we want to knock down we got a few under our belt. I’m not too particular on actually wanting anybody in particular on my record I just want to complete a real solid record. We actually have quite a few versions of the album we just decided to go in again and start fresh so this time we gon lay down the foundation and once we start putting the piece together certain individuals might come to mind. So basically were going to put our input first deal with these producers, lay a nice foundation for some of these records, then start reaching out about some features.

C: No doubt man. Now what else do we got to look for when it comes to spider loc in '09?

S.P.I.:  Ah man! I’m a storm within myself; Baymaac clothing is gaining a lot of momentum.  I partner with a company outta Virginia called Funky Flashbacks and they been established for quite some time. We spawned Baymaac Clothing which is my lifestyle. Also my independent label, Baymaac is an acronym for Be About Your Money At All Cost. That’s one of the main things we trying to get off the ground this year. They could go to SPIINDASTREETS.COM and you could actually go to the store and see some of the Baymaac clothing that we have available. I have a couple of artists that I’m trying to help get there situations established. Big Payback, my boy T-Bo, my boy Bigfoot, and the RnB sensation E-Note. They all have a project they working on this year, just trying to stay out the folks face and be about our money it looks like a real real spiritual situation when we Baymaac man we about our money at all costs so anything that’s gon bring some green table I’m on that I heard the dollars is going to turn to Ameros I’m trying to get some Ameros I want to be the first nigga in the hood with ‘em. A pocketful of Ameros.

C: That’s it man that North American currency.

S.P.I.: Ye man make it open then, they got it good out there in Mexico. We need that your way too man ya’ll got it good.

C: LOL....Hey man honestly our government follows the states.

S.P.I.: Pretty much, America been bullying and Canada been its little homie. So it’s like Canada is like Yayo is to 50 Cent.

C:  That’s It.... No doubt man I want to thank you on behalf of champ magazine and our staff and please tell the people where they can listen to your music, buy it and all that.

S.P.I.: Of course you can find S.P.I. on musiccity.com and my personal head quarters SPIINDASTREETS.COM, myspace.com/spiderloc and the YouTube, on the Facebook, the twitter, on your kite channel.
