AJIA NICOLE INTERVIEW
CHAMP MAGAZINE
The Boy Hollywood

CHAMP: We got the home girl Ajia. What are you up to at the current moment?

Ajia Nicole: At the current moment, honestly I’m tryina order some Chinese food

CHAMP: Anything in particular?

Ajia Nicole: Anything fried (laughs)

CHAMP: Of course you hail from my Miami. How long have you been modeling for?

Ajia Nicole: I started modeling last summer 4th of July weekend, so almost a year ago.

CHAMP: That little time?

Ajia Nicole: It’s been a long time

CHAMP: (Laughs) Now are you just modeling, or are you able to flip the script and do the acting?

Ajia Nicole: I think I can get into the acting. I think acting. I don’t wanna be cliché but my ultimate thing is to be in broadcasting.

CHAMP: Ok. So you’re tryina be an anchor woman or…

Ajia Nicole: I’m tryina be like in comparison to Rocsi

CHAMP: Now how old are you?

Ajia Nicole: I’m 25

CHAMP: For the people looking at your pics and trying to guess what you’re nationality is, what would it be?

Ajia Nicole: My mother’s Italian and my dad is from Jamaica

CHAMP: That’s a pretty good mix I must say

Ajia Nicole: It is! My mother’s very pretty

CHAMP: People are gonna be scratching their head and say that you look familiar. What are some of the projects you’ve worked on or appeared in that people can identify you from?
Ajia Nicole: I was of course in the Hurricane Chris video portraying the neighborhood Halle Berry, then I did two more videos. I did one with Gucci Mane, and I did one with Joe the r&b singer and that should be coming out really soon. I’m featuring in XXL coming out.

CHAMP: Oh so you’re gonna be the Eye Candy?!

Ajia Nicole: Yeah I’m gonna be the Eye Candy next month

CHAMP: So you’re on the grind basically?

Ajia Nicole: Yeah

CHAMP: With the Halle Berry with Hurricane Chris a lot of people are saying you look exactly like her. How flattered were you to get that part?

Ajia Nicole: First of all Halle Berry’s like…Bow down to the original mulatto. That’s a major compliment. I still don’t think I look anything like her but hey. Whatever floats your boat (laughs). It was definitely flattering.

CHAMP: For all my fellas who think they got a chance with you. What is your status and what are the qualities you look for in a dude?

Ajia Nicole: Let me start with what I look for

CHAMP: Ok!

Ajia Nicole: (Laughs). I look for a gentleman who knows how to talk and approach a woman and has respect. Also, I’m not married so that’s all that matters.

CHAMP: Whoa whoa hey hey hey! I mean just so I can clarify because we got a lot of slow people peeping this. So we’re gonna say that you’re saying there’s someone, but it’s not to the extent where someone else can’t distract you.

Ajia Nicole: Yeah exactly

CHAMP: Ok ok. I got you I got you. So there’s still hope?

Ajia Nicole: Yeah there’s still hope (laughs)

CHAMP: What are some of the hidden talents you go that people may not know about?

Ajia Nicole: Hidden talents…I don’t know if it’s really a talent but I could eat a lot

CHAMP: Heeeeeey…I mean…

Ajia Nicole: I can also do the splits (laughs)

CHAMP: Now when you say you can eat a lot. Are we talking like six big macs in a row or…

Ajia Nicole: Nooo nooo. I need real food. Like in the south there’s no ifs ands or butts about real food down here so it definitely is hearty food like steaks and stuff (laughs). Steaks, really good salads, love the Mexican food.

CHAMP: The Empanadas and all that!

Ajia Nicole: Yeah, definitely. And the Margaritas

CHAMP: I’m pretty sure you’re aware of The Recession, but I’m actually interested in finding out if it’s impacting the modeling world?

Ajia Nicole: I definitely think it’s evident. With King closing down which was a door opened for a lot of models; that kinda broke my heart because you don’t have too many magazines left for young models just tryina make it in the game, so it’s definitely impacting us. We gotta eat and still get to our destinations, but if you love it and you definitely have a big goal and you love it, it’s definitely worth it.

CHAMP: Let’s say The Recession wiped out the modeling world today, that’s it, finito. What’s the Plan B you got?

Ajia Nicole: My Plan B?...Like I said I really wanna get into broadcasting, and I love to write so journalism would definitely be a next best thing for me because I love to talk.

CHAMP: Of course CHAMP is abbreviated if you didn’t know…

Ajia Nicole: I didn’t know

CHAMP: It’s ok I got you

Ajia Nicole: School me, school me

CHAMP: We cover urban culture, hip hop, arts, music and production so I gotta ask you a few questions in regards to that category to verify that you are definitely a CHAMP. We gotta make sure you’re CHAMP approved right now.

Ajia Nicole: Ok ok

CHAMP: We’re gonna start off with your culture. What are some cultural activities/ events that you would share with someone in terms of  educating them on some Jamaican activities or events or anything, or even Italian cultural events or activites?

Ajia Nicole: Definitely with Italian, our families are very big and we like to be together and we’re together every single holiday, no matter what it is. It’s not really a big thing these days so definitely have to show em it’s all about love and being around the people you love and all that good stuff.

CHAMP: For the hip hop part. Who’s your top five right now?

Ajia Nicole: Number five would have to be Trick Daddy. I still got love for him even though I haven’t heard from him in a while. Number four would have to be Rick Ross

CHAMP: Yes!

Ajia Niocle: Definitely. I’m sorry he can’t be number one (laughs). Number three would be Kanye, number two would be Jeezy, and number one would have to be Lil Wayne.

CHAMP: How did I know! All the girls love this guy off. What is about Weezy?

Ajia Nicole: You know what? It’s his ability to shock you and surprise you. A lot of people you can anticipate what they about to say, with him the way he change the word and make it sound like…I don’t know like the rhythm of the word is awesome. He’s so creative.

CHAMP: We’re gonna move on to the artistic level now. What would you say is your favorite urban art outside of the art of rap and urban music?

Ajia Nicole: My favorite would have to be dancing. Dancing is like...you’re gonna think I’m corny but when I was young I used to record music videos and I’d learn all the choreography and tried to learn like every move.

CHAMP: We’re gonna move on to music aspect. What are you’re top five joints right now?

Ajia Nicole: I just got thorugh listening to Gorilla Zoe’s So Sick number 13 on the album. Awesome. I like that song. Another one that I’m really feeling is So Amazing by Kanye and Jeezy, Musiq Soulchild On My Radio, I like that new Lil Kim. It kinda like took me by surprise, and then the last one is gonna be Lloyd from his Lessons of Love album last year. Still rocking it.

CHAMP: The whole album?

Ajia Nicole: The whole album’s dope but the Year of the Lover

CHAMP: Now that came out in 08 so you agree that 08 was the “year of the lover”?

Ajia Nicole: The year of the lover for me is gon’ be ’09?

CHAMP: Heeey man, I meeean hey. Now we’re gonna move on the production aspect. What would be your favorite beat or favorite producer?

Ajia Nicole: My favorite producer would have to be The-Dream and I say that only because not only did he produce his own album but he produced Beyonce songs, and with Christina Milian, he did her whole album. He can write for men and women. He’s not just one sided.

CHAMP: That was a good pick actually

Ajia Nicole: Really?

CHAMP: Yeah it is. A lot of people don’t even know that The-Dream does the producing, and that he wrote a lot of hits, so it’s good to see that…you know what? You’re actually a CHAMP. You passed the test. You’re a certified CHAMP. A++

Ajia Nicole: Awesome

CHAMP: Before we let you go. What else can we expect from Ajia and where can people catch up and be up to date with what’s going on with you and your world?

Ajia Nicole: I got a couple places I’m gonna go to so definitely go to my MySpace for now while my website’s being built. My MySpace is myspace.com/ajianicole. They can go there and look at current flyers or anything that’s going on with me and hopefully some more videos coming up

CHAMP: Definitely. If I become a rapper one day I definitely would want you to be the leading girl in my video so we’ll definitely chop it up you know what I mean?

Ajia Nicole: (Imitating Hollywood) You know what I mean! (laughs)
