Blaksmif
The Boy Hollywood

CHAMP: What’s Goodie Blacksmif. What are you up to currently?

Blacksmif: On the grind, heavy  Writing, recording, promoting, performing, etc.

CHAMP: Now where exactly are you from and what was it like growing up there?

Blacksmif: That four-thirteen. Springfield Mass. The field of broken dreams, til now. I mean coming up in the field was normal to me, because that's where I came up. I grew up in the hood, right off Bay street. Some broke times & some broker times. Comin’ up like that, you learn to be independent cause everybody tryin to make it out cut throat style. What's worse is niggas be mad they stuck there so if you doing good it might be your ass, feel me. Don't get it twisted I love my hood but right now I'm focused on where I'm heading not where I'm from.

CHAMP: Who were some of musical influences growing up?

Blacksmif: Everything from A Tribe Called Quest to Biggie, to Pun, to Hov and the 2001 ROC. I mainly fuck with the east. I don't really stray from lyrics.

CHAMP: Where does the name Blacksmif come from?

Blacksmif: Remolding destiny. I was born into a lifestyle of poverty. Surrounded by drug dealers and abusers that ended up dead or in prison, but I ain’t going out like that. School ain’t really my thing. I'm sayin’, I'm smart but I just felt niggas around me was dumb so I didn't wanna be there all the time. Anyway, Blaksmif is a metaphor for remolding my destiny the way a blacksmith remolds steel or iron. Rags to Riches. know what I'm sayin'.

CHAMP: Now how did you first take on the art form of spitting and what was it like dropping that first track?

Blacksmif:T hat's something I did like about school. I got nice in lunch cyphers. I used to chew crews down. Niggas wanted to jump the kid. As far my first track, it was with this dude named Ace Uno. He don't rap no more. It was called CHANGE MY LIFE. It kind of summed up the meaning of my name. I was goin off on that mic, man.

CHAMP: You’re on a bunch of tapes including Dj Scopes joint. How did you end up hooking up with Scope and the Infrared fam?

Blacksmif:
That's actually a funny story. My producer/manager was trying to tell Scope, whom at the time hadn't heard me, that I be chewin’ dudes up. So long story short scope set up a battle. He's been fuckin witcha boy ever since. Lol. That's my dude though he's going hard right now.
CHAMP: Now you’re a hard dude to look up on the net for? If cats wanna hear more of your stuff or get info on you where can they get it online?

Blacksmif
: Google me. Lol. Nah for real though. Google Blaksmif, Youtube Blaksmif, visit makinmoves.com, or check me out at myspace.com/blaksmif99

CHAMP: How would you describe your style?

Blacksmif: Water. I can take any form my shit just flows so nice.  I'm lyrical even when I'm not. It just comes natural to me.

CHAMP: If there was a track you would recommend for a cat to peep to have them convinced that you got the lyrical piff what would you prescribe?

Blacksmif: As far as songs I'd say quick or slow. But classic freestyles I gotta go with my last dayz freestyle. Go ahead compare it to that green lantern shit with Beans & Budden & them. Most people who hear it do. I belong in that bracket with the legends because I keep it a hundred with the bars.

CHAMP: What projects have you come out with and what projects do you got in the works coming soon?

Blaksmif: I been on D.J. Scopes joints. I'm on all of the Makin Moves enhanced mixtapes shout out to God Alique & Mr. pop it ya pc Frank Nino. I been in 12 battles at fight klub and countless hood battles. My first solo mixtape is about to drop. Its only right that scope host it. My first is about to drop but I'm workin on the forth mixtape. Oh yeah ya niggas goin in like dat.
